Is Modi a fascist?: Modi devotees angry over AI Jamnai’s response, govt to send notice to Google
India’s BJP government is preparing to send a notice to internet giant Google over its response to a question on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Indian government is considering sending a notice to the company for making ‘baseless’ allegations against Indian Prime Minister Modi in response to a query on Google’s artificial intelligence (AI) platform Gemini.
According to a report published in the Indian media, it was posted by a user on the social media platform after which the information technology minister in India, Rajiv Chandrasekhar, took it seriously.
While Google has said that the Gemini AI tool may not always be reliable, especially when it comes to current events, political topics or breaking news.
Responding to a Twitter user’s post, Rajeev Chandrasekhar has hinted that the government may take action against him. He wrote: “This is a direct violation under IT Rule 3 (b) under the IT Act and several provisions of the Criminal Code.”
A Twitter user named Shrimoy Talukdar forwarded another post and wrote that the answer given by Google’s AI in response to a question shows bias and the government should take notice.
What is the matter?
A user named Shrimoy Talukdar forwarded a tweet in which it was written that when the artificial intelligence Jimnai was asked about Modi ‘Is Modi a fascist’, he replied that he is ‘accused of implementing policies that According to some experts, fascism is.
But when asked the same question about US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Google’s artificial intelligence Jimnai did not give a clear answer.
Quoting Zelensky, AI wrote: “This question is complex, there is no easy answer.”
While on a similar question about Trump, Jimnai wrote: “Elections are a complex subject amid constantly changing information.” Try searching on Google Search to get accurate and up-to-date information.
Renowned author Arnab Ray has written referring to these three, see how this artificial intelligence has been developed. Jemnai should be ashamed.
Google’s answer
According to sources in the Indian media, notices are being sent to Google in this matter. The government is questioning how the AI has been trained and on what basis the AI has developed its responses. Who are the ‘experts’ that AI mentioned in his reply?
According to The Hindu Business Line, Google reacted to the issue on Saturday, saying that it had taken “immediate” action to resolve the issue with the Gemini AI tool.
A Google spokesperson said: ‘We have worked quickly to resolve this issue. Gemini is designed to be a creative and productive tool and it can’t always be reliable, especially when it comes to responding to certain cues about current events, political topics, or breaking news. This is something we are constantly working to improve.
While many have accused artificial intelligence of being biased, many have also tried to say that humans can make mistakes but that artificial intelligence generally provides accurate information.
A user named Lub Abhilasha shared the Indian Express news and wrote: ‘Humans can be wrong but AI is mostly right. It is known all over the world that Modi adopts fascist policies. The AI acquires knowledge by learning from a large number of leading international media and social media.
Similarly, well-known American historian Audrey Trishki shared the news of The Hindu and wrote that ‘whenever the truth comes out, whatever its source, it is not welcome in your Hindu Rashtra.’
Responding to the IT minister’s tweet, noted journalist Siddharth Vardha Rajan wrote: ‘Bhakts (i.e. ardent supporters of Modi) are expressing their anger over AI bot’s prejudices, why all are asking such questions about the beloved leader. They are asking ‘Is Modi a fascist?’, ‘Is Modi a bigot?’, ‘Is Modi a dictator?’
None of them are asking ‘Is Modi a democrat?’, ‘Does Modi respect human rights?’ Their questions tell us all we need to know.
Many users have also written on social media about the shortcomings of Gemini or other chatbots while asking the same question about Narendra Modi to other AIs has not been given a clear answer. Many users are just sharing the question asked to Gemini and its answer.
When the Financial Express asked Chet GPT the same question, his reply was something like this: “The question of whether Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a fascist is a matter of perspective and personal opinion.” Some critics and members of the opposition have accused him and his government of showing authoritarian tendencies and of concentrating power, suppressing dissent, and controversial policies such as the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and Jammu and Kashmir. And has referred to steps like abrogation of Article 370 in Kashmir.
They argue that these actions reflect characteristics commonly associated with fascist regimes. However, supporters of Prime Minister Modi and his Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) reject the allegations and argue that the Indian government is operating within a democratic framework.
