Hanoi: A restaurant in Vietnam has been shut down for killing 300 cats a month to prepare a special soup.

According to the World News Agency, the 37-year-old owner of the Gia Bao restaurant, Pham Kwok Donh, used to kill cats by immersing them in a bucket of water and then skinning them to separate the meat, some of which was used to make soup and some of which was sold.

The owner of the restaurant says that he was never happy about his brutal act. He was depressed while slaughtering cats and one day he decided to end the work.

Pham Quoc Dona tore down a poster selling cat soup and meat outside the restaurant and freed 20 cats from her captivity and handed them over to an animal protection NGO.

The owner of the restaurant told the NGO that he started selling cat soup and meat because of low income. Earlier he used to sell general food and drinks but it was not working.

Pham Kwok Dona added that selling normal food and drinks did not cover my expenses because there was no cat meat restaurant, so this business worked.

On which the NGO gave a grant to restaurant owner Pham Kwok Dona to open a grocery shop.

Pham Kwok Dona thanked the NGO and said that now that I have stopped the cat soup and meat business. Feel more relaxed in my mind and feel confident and happy about my future without killing more animals.
